Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, is proud to announce the appointment of Gail Koeberg who runs the Quegal Restoration & Refuge Centre in Magaliesig, Gauteng. Gail Koeberg joins the 44 appointed Mamas who collectively care for almost 13000 children and nearly 1 800 elderly people, many of which are abused, orphaned, homeless and vulnerable.

With over 19 years of experience in community empowerment projects, Gail and her team are able to collectively care for 18 women, men and children who have been abused and are in need of rehabilitation and restoration.

Through Gail’s centre, they are able to receive the much-needed assistance to become contributors to their community as they receive practical skills training in administration, training, cooking, baking and knitting, which will allow them to become self-sustainable.

Professor Elain Vlok, Founder of Clover Mama Afrika says, “It is never difficult to visualise a success story. I am proud to appoint Mama Gail as she embodies all the qualities that are required to become a Clover Mama Afrika Mama. Mama Gail is a hardworking and passionate individual who has demonstrated that she has a strong desire to make a difference in her community. I am more than confident that with our support, her centre will be able to aid and assist more members of the community.”

Her appointment followed a site visit from the Clover Mama Afrika team, where she aced the evaluation assessments that proved that her centre is equipped to with the necessary infrastructure to care for the most vulnerable members of her community

Mama Gail Koeberg concludes, “I was inspired to start the centre as a result of my personal experiences with abuse as a young child. For me, this centre is a way for me to give back to the community by providing abused and vulnerable women, men and children with a safe place to seek refuge.”
