Drosty-Hof shows its new country face
Issued by de Kock Communications on behalf of Drosty-Hof - May 22nd 2014, 14:46
The new-look Drostdy-Hof range of wines was recently showcased to a select group of guests at chef Quentin Spickernell’s restaurant in Hout Bay, Quentin at Oakhurst.
Drostdy-Hof has taken the proactive move to revitalise its packaging, giving pride of place to the historic home in Tulbagh. The change comes in the wake of a new positioning that sees the brand rooted in an unspoiled, wholesome but sophisticated country environment expressed by "pure country wines" tagline.
Spickernell's meal began with sweet potato and macadamia fritters served with mango, charred corn, coconut, lime and crispy ginger salad, matched with the 2013 vintage of Drostdy-Hof Adelpracht Special Late Harvest.
Roast rack of lamb was partnered with Drostdy-Hof Pinotage, while fish-eaters were served roast loin of kingklip with a lemon and hazelnut crust and Drostdy-Hof Chardonnay 2013.
Dessert was deliciously refreshing rose, pistachio, date and apricot frozen nougat, paired with Drostdy-Hof Natural Sweet Rosé (non-vintage).
Drostdy-Hof’s range of wines is available from leading stores countrywide and retail for around R30 for the bottled whites and R35 for the bottled reds, while the bag-in-box offerings are priced between R80 and R115.

Fairtrade-accredited Place in the Sun wines are kind to the earth and to the people who harvest the grapes. To earn the certification, grapes have to be cultivated according to eco-friendly principles. Place in the Sun also pays a premium for the fruit. The money is used to support health, nutritional, educational and recreational projects decided on by the farm workers involved.
Red meat and red wine is a classic pairing for a reason! The tannins in reds bond with and soften the protein of the meat, bringing out its savoury flavours and juiciness.
