The group at Mixer SRL in Bologna Italy are known to European bars, restaurants, and hotels for their formidable premium fruit purees and gourmet syrups. This year Mixer entered African soil and is already sold in Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia and now South Africa. They are imported and marketed in SA by the Lifestyle Drinks company Livissimo (PTY) Ltd, the brainchild of ex Campari Executive Dirk J. Ullrich, and exclusively distributed by Bidfood, a division of industry giant Bidvest.
Mixer produces over 50 different sku’s – all made from 100% real fruit, packaged in a bartender friendly PET speed bottle. All products are non-alcoholic and gluten free and have a convenient shelf life of 24 months (3 months when opened) without cold chain just boasting one industry preservative: potassium sorbate.
The fruit purees come in standard variants like strawberry, mango, pineapple, passion fruit etc. and also very exotic flavours like coconut, honey-melon, prickly pear, blueberry, and mandarin. “When you open a bottle it feels like cutting into a fresh fruit – the smell and the taste is all natural and almost overwhelming,“ says Jean-Marie’, Mixer’s local brand ambassador.
“Mixer created a real taste sensation with fantastic yield – just use a few ml for a cocktail, milkshake, smoothie, ice tea or any dessert. It’s so concentrated it really blows your mind. It cuts down on preparation time, there’s no wastage and there's absolute consistency with every serve”, adds Dirk J. Ullrich, Director of Livissimo who first noticed Mixer in the on-trade in Italy. “We just brought in our second container and can’t keep up with the demand. There’s nothing like it in South Africa.”
Mixer offers altogether 4 ranges: the fruit purees, an easy cocktail line with ready-made flavours like Mojito, Margarita, Pina Colada and Cosmopolitan as well as syrups for flavouring coffees & desserts and unusual mixology syrups like cucumber, elderflower, green tea and ginger for cocktails and ice creams.
Bidfood provides the 24 hour delivery service for Mixer products to all of their over 20,000 customers via their bfs247 website and through their sales force and call centre.
