The Cape Wine Academy is proud to announce Adinda Booysen as its new Managing Director as of November 2011.
With her MBA from the University of Hull (UK) and IMM Graduate Diploma in Marketing in hand, Booysens also brings a wealth of knowledge of the wine industry to the Academy as she has approximately 22 years in various wine-marketing related roles at companies such as DGB, Boschendal Wine Estate and Vergelegen Wine Estate to name a few. She also spent 5 years as a partner in a Wine Distribution company.
Taking over from Marilyn Cooper, who is now CEO, Booysen’s main function will be to substantially market and grow the Academy’s core business overall in wine and hospitality education and training throughout South Africa and surrounding areas.
Founded in 1979, the Cape Wine Academy is recognised as the official wine education and training institution in South Africa and also offers the esteemed Cape Wine Masters™ and Cape Sommelier™ qualifications, which has seen a number of black sommeliers reach outstanding careers in 5-star hotels in and around South Africa and the world.
The Cape Wine Academy is an active contributor to the South African workforce nationally in increasing employment as many of their students go on to be successful waiters, sommeliers, restaurant managers, winemakers, tourism hospitality managers, tour operators, chefs, hotel and guesthouse managers.
Since its inception 33 years ago, over 100 000 students have enrolled for various Cape Wine Academy courses throughout South Africa.
