South Africa’s fabulous, fun-in-the-sun reality TV series, Tropika Island of Treasure is back for an epic 5th season full of exciting changes! The 5th season brings with it a new group of scorching hot celebrities, all of whom are deliciously sexy and ooze “smooothness” in their own right.
“This season of TIOT5 is going to be massive! We have the hottest crop of celebrities set in one of the coolest locations in the world, and the show is moving to the biggest channel in the country, it can only get better- with all these fantastic new changes, we’re excited to see what Season 5 has in store,” says Asheen Dayal, Tropika Group Brand Manager.
Fronting the celebrity contestants for TIOT5 is SA’s hottest hip-hop giant and rap royalty AKA; Miss RGB and Zone 14’s sweetheart Pearl Thusi; king of kool Da L.E.S, sweltering cover girl Reeva Steenkamp; feisty former teen queen, actress and TV presenter Phuti Khomo; Mario “hot abs” Ogle, and rising Isidingo star and feature film actress Jay Anstey.
It is with great excitement that TIOT5 announces its move to Mzansi’s favourite television channel, SABC1. The move to Mzansi fo sho will see the show broadcasting in a prime time slot at 18h30 on Saturday from February 2013, and will grow from a 30 minute segment to keep viewers enthralled in a full 1 hour show.
The fifth season of the destination-based reality show, brought to viewers by Tropika, will be shot on location in one of the most desirable destinations in the world - the island of Jamaica!
The celebrities will of course share this once-in-a-lifetime experience in Jamaica with seven public contestants, each competing to win the grand prize of a smoooth R1 million.
“TIOT5 comes of age in an environment where there is a bigger wattage of star power to bring viewers more of what they wanted – more fun, more of SA’s hottest celebs and more TV viewing time during the new 1 hour broadcast,” says the show’s Executive Producer, Samantha Moon.

One can never learn enough and this motto applies to Clover Mama Afrika. The 2017 cooks and bakers were reunited for the last training session of the year. The training session started off with Clover Mama Afrika’s founder Prof Elain Vlok, who provided a refresher/evaluation session on fruit cake making.
The first event of the weekend was with Mama Mirriam Toni from Mbekweni and the second with Mama Selestien Moses from Ashbury.
Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, celebrated its 13th birthday this October. The campaign works with female entrepreneurs across the nation and to date has appointed 43 Mamas nationwide.
Their first visit started off in the cold and wet Mbekweni near Paarl but it’s landmark ‘shack’ was still standing strong.

Chicken Satay Skewers: Flatten the chicken breasts and cut each fillet into long thin strips and place in a non-metallic bowl.
Brush the asparagus spears with the butter and season with salt and pepper. Grill on a hot braai or in a griddle pan for 2-3 minutes per side, turning frequently. Place onto a serving platter.
Place the flour, yeast, sugar, salt, cumin and nigella seeds into the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.
