CASTLE LAGER

The Great South African Beer
Representing the best of South Africa - its hopes, its dreams and aspirations - is the ethos of Castle Lager. This great South African beer brewed from the finest natural ingredients continues to satisfy South Africa's thirst like no other. From its humble beginnings in the 1890s when it was brewed to quench the thirsts of hard-working, hard drinking prospectors in the midst of the dusty gold-rush boom town that was Johannesburg. Till today, when it satisfies the thirst of many that make up the dynamic modern African society that we live in, Castle Lager continues to be interwoven into the very fabric of our changing society. Skyscrapers have mushroomed from shantytowns, horse-drawn carts morphed into sleek fuel-injected cars but due to the hot and dry climate of South Africa, we still require a beer that is both full flavoured and thirst quenching. A beer that is "Perfectly Balanced to satisfy a South African thirst"

Castle remains part and parcel of the many dimensions of our amazing country and inspires pride in belonging by highlighting our unique approach and attitude to the many facets of South African life, from sport to music, art and culture. Like the vuvuzelas which were proudly blown in the streets of Soweto, down to the gentrified corridors of Switzerland when Sepp Blatter announced that South Africa was bestowed as the host country for the 2010 Fifa World Cup, Castle was there from its direct support of the bid to the clinking of celebratory glasses. In addition Castle celebrates South Africans unique ability to see beyond the immediate limitations to the possibilities and potential that exists in our country. It epitomises the pioneering South African values of determination, resourcefulness, resilience and optimism.

Together, all these instances prove just how much our values, our interests - and every aspect of our South African lives - are ingrained in the DNA of one brew created to satisfy a South African thirst: Castle Lager.
