Head of Sales (Pharmacy & Drug)

Reporting to the Customer Director, South & Sub Saharan Africa, The Head of Pharmacy & Drug will be responsible for all elements of the pharmacy and drug channels and key account management. This includes strategy definition, business plan development, go-to-market design and in-store execution of all the company’s Brands to meet the business sales objective whilst enriching the execution of brand/shopper/market insights and strategies.
You will lead and develop a high performing sales team and be responsible for the channel’s key metrics across sales, budgets, profit and market. Participate in key forums (forecasting, Nielsens, marketing/shopper insight sessions, market research, S&OP) whilst engaging with the appropriate teams within the business on a regular basis and providing input on your area as required.
The ideal candidate will have: * experience in the OTC market (including scheduled drugs) * a relevant commercial qualification (Bachelor’s Degree / equivalent) * 8 -10 years in customer facing roles within the FMCG and Pharmacy environments (Clicks, Dischem and Wholesale Distributors in particular) * understanding of the independent pharmacy landscape * experience and technical understanding of the compliance components of the Retail Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical / Drug Distributors environment is essential * 5 years’ experience in managing and developing Key Accounts teams and Field Force (Reps) within a multinational focussed on healthcare, nutritionals and pharmaceuticals.
To this end, you are a good people manager with strong commercial and analytical skills, sound project management capability – one who is able to motivate and energise the sales team nationally whilst remaining a key senior team player.
