One of South Africa’s longest-standing value retailers, Ackermans, opened its 800th store in Africa’s biggest shopping centre Fourways Mall, in the north of Johannesburg. 

Ackermans was founded on the vision of making quality products affordable to everyone. Over 100 years later, the value retailer continues to deliver on this promise with its now 800th store, and outlets in five countries.

This further reinforces the retailer’s commitment to adding value to its various stakeholders, through having a presence in its customers’ communities. “We ensure that we are positioned where it is convenient for customers to find us. Having the right footprint is critical for ongoing customer engagement, hence our expansion into some of South Africa’s biggest malls,” says Spencer Radebe, Operations Director at Ackermans.

The 800th store is located in the newly revamped Fourways Mall, which is the largest shopping destination in Africa, surpassing Pretoria's Menlyn Park, Durban’s Gateway Theatre, Sandton City, Cape Town’s Canal Walk and the Mall of Africa in Gauteng, and predicted to be visited by as many as two million people each month.

The new Ackermans store is located near Entrance 2 on the Ground Floor. It will offer customers a superior shopping journey and in-store experience, featuring the retailer’s signature layout design. It promises affordable women and children’s wear items, as well baby products, cellular deals, kids’ school uniforms, and much more. “Exciting in-store promotions will also be a regular feature", says Radebe.

“We strive to give customers the greatest assortment and quality at an affordable price, and are excited to be able to offer this to the customers of Fourways Mall,” Radebe concludes.
