MobiMedia, the mobile marketing arm of Ole! Media Group, has been appointed one of only three carefully selected Strategic Sales Channel Partners (SCPs) to handle Vodacom’s extensive mobile inventory.

Mobile marketing is the fastest and most direct way to engage with consumers. Specialist mobile marketing agency, MobiMedia, already provides agencies and brands with a full suite of services designed to engage the mobile consumer, including technology, concept, content and strategy. Now, with the ability to offer consumers direct access to Vodacom’s more than 36.4 million users on a monthly basis via a wide range of options and channels, the power of mobile marketing just grew even bigger.

Commenting on the latest move by the network giant, and their appointment, MobiMedia CEO, Tim Legg said: “MobiMedia was born mobile first and, since inception, has had a mantra to engage mobile consumers. We now have the opportunity to realise our vision, together with South Africa’s largest mobile network.”

And, South Africa truly is a mobile nation, boasting over 85 million mobile connections, with a 156% penetration reaching more people on a daily basis than all other digital mediums combined. Consumers reportedly* spend almost three hours per day accessing the Internet via their mobile phones and the mobile share of web traffic globally has grown to 38.5% from 0,7% in the last seven years. Of this, 38% of all users are said to use their mobile communication device for messaging, with 43% having searched for a product or service online to purchase in the past 30 days, while 28% of users are watching video online through their phones.

In opening up the market through this wide range of channels, Vodacom is giving brands and agencies direct access to a large percentage of the increasingly mobile South African audience, and the selection of the three partners to take their inventory to market was a carefully considered process.

Vodacom’s range of mobile marketing channels and advertising solutions assist brands to tap into the ever-expanding mobile generation via the network’s publisher platforms, in-app advertising, content sponsorship, bulk messaging, competitions, video, multimedia messaging and more. MobiMedia brings advertisers not only access to the ad inventory on these mobile channels, but works with clients to create customised advertising solutions to target specific audiences and build ongoing relationships through strategic mobile content campaigns and tailored mobile tools like apps, games, surveys, competitions, and vouchers. Each of these mobile advertising channels can drive awareness, consideration, purchase and loyalty, but together, they represent an unprecedented opportunity for brands and agencies to target consumers with the right message, wherever they are.

“With more and more people in South Africa and indeed across the continent, having access to smartphones and cheaper data streams, mobile advertising is geared to increase the chances of immediate response and with the correct user profile inputs, is also better able to supply higher returns against investment,” concluded Legg.

The MobiMedia/Vodacom Strategic Sales Channel Partnership will be introduced to the industry at events in Johannesburg and Cape Town on 9 and 11 May, respectively.
