Eastmatt retail chain opens new CBD outlet, Kenya
The-Star.co.ke - Apr 7th 2014, 10:43
Retailer chain Eastmatt Supermarkets has opened a new outlet in Nairobi’s CBD in space previously occupied by a Tuskys branch next to the fire station.
It announced on Thursday that it will focus its expansion plan on the CBD and may open new stores in the course of this year, intensifying battle for retail space.
“We are targeting other stores in the Central Business District as we explore our expansion plans. We intend to roll out more outlets this year,” said Sam Kariuki, a senior human resource manager at Eastmatt, in a statement.
The store formerly housed Tuskys Daima, but it was thrown out by the landlord due to a lease dispute. The outlet is placed in close proximity with bus stops for various routes and benefits from commuters seeking impulsive quick shopping.
Matatus plying routes of Githurai, Kahawa, Kasarani, Eastleigh and Zimmerman operate from around here. It is also close to Khoja bus stop for matatus plying lower Kabete, Wangigi and Ruaka.
