Engen Sea Point Convenience Centre, located along the Atlantic Seaboard in Cape Town, became the 50th Quickshop convenience centre with a Woolworths Foodstop when it opened its doors to the public recently after a significant revamp.

The upgrade forms part of Engen’s Reinvigorate programme, which began in 2007 and will touch 582 of the company’s service stations by the time it ends in 2018.

General Manager of Engen Sales & Marketing, Joe Mahlo, says the first Woolies Foodstop opened its doors just over 13 years ago, on 1 September 2000.

“Our exclusive convenience food partnership with Woolworths remains an extremely innovative concept that challenges ideas of convenience. Engen will constantly search new ways to meet the needs of the motorists whose work and entertainment schedules have taken on a life of their own.”

Diversity on offer

The new-look Engen Sea Point Convenience Centre offers a significantly more diverse range of products and services. Besides the Woolworths Foodstop, a new-look Quickshop is accompanied by a Corner Bakery, public toilets and an ATM.

Dealer Frans Maritz believes in providing customer satisfaction through convenience and personal service. “With our upgraded site and offering we can offer our customers a wider range of convenience products in a safe and friendly environment, which helps us to deliver on our philosophy that every experience matters.”

Mahlo adds that “ Through partnership with other great brands, including Famous Brands and Retsol Corner Bakery we are able to deliver a consistently excellent offering to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”

Efforts by the company to put the customer first have been recognised and acknowledged consistently over the last few years. Engen retained its ranking as the ‘Coolest Petroleum Brand’ for the third successive year in the Sunday Times Generation Next youth survey, which tracks youth consumer preferences and behaviour, as well as the 2013 Sunday Times ‘Top Brand’ award for the third consecutive year.

The company was also acknowledged as SA’s leading oil company in the 2013 ‘Top Company Reputation Index’ run by the Mail & Guardian newspaper.”
