Massmart's Game Africa goes to Kenya

SA government and business initially pulled its nose up to Walmart’s 51% stake in Masmmart saying it would be to the detriment of local producers and business owners. However, after a number of enquiries and debates, an agreement was reached to benefit the stakeholders concerned.

Since then, Walmart-owned Massmart has concentrated on the development of its Foodco division in Game stores, with the intention of gaining a sizeable bite in South African grocery retail.
