Point your print budget in a new direction

Managing one’s print budget is a critical task for many consumer brands, especially for those requiring a large quantity of printed material.

Traditionally there have been three basic channels of purchasing print services; purchasing either through a creative agency, or a print broker, or using internal staff to outsource print services directly.

But, there is a more efficient and cost effective way to management a budget for these services, according to Christian Bell, Head of Sales and Marketing at POINT, an outsourced print management specialist.

Bell says that the most effective way to manage a large print budget is to separate concept design from print production.

He explains that “a good independent specialist should be impartial (have no ownership or relationship links to any printer), use appropriate software to enable a carefully controlled bidding process on every job, and have skilled and experienced print professionals providing advice and guidance on print production.”

While creative agencies and print brokers can mark the base price up as much as 30% and tend to be reverse-incentivised (the higher the base price of the print, the more money they make), an outsourced print management solution often results in a premium product at a better price.

Bell says that an outsourced solution, like POINT, would offer a better quality printed product, lower cost on retail units (allowing for better consumer pricing) and offer a more refined understanding of print spend. POINT has already managed print budgets across a number of industries, including consumer foods and cosmetics brands.

In a time where many FMCG businesses are looking to get the most mileage from their spend, be it for packaging or print, a solution like POINT is set to offer a cost-effective alternative for print management through practical administration and ideas’ innovation.
