Two Oceans engages consumers with a pair of flip-flops

Capturing consumer interest and engagement is at the heart of an$y brand building campaign and in today’s marketing arena, there are countless ways of building brands from outdoor advertising to store activation and promotions.

Two Ocean’s, the food-friendly range of wines from Distell, has taken its brand building one step further by sponsoring student Liam Kelly to take part in the 2012 World Explorer. In this globe trotting adventure Kelly explores 75 cities in 25 countries for the remainder of the year.

“Given that Two Oceans sells in over 80 countries worldwide there was a close fit with Liam’s global itinerary. At the same time, coast to coast, Two Oceans exemplifies the typical, laid-back South African warmth and hospitality, for which our country is so well-known,” says Jackie Olivier, Global Marketing Manager for Two Oceans.

Olivier adds that Liam Kelly’s high competence, but unassuming and friendly nature, makes him an ideal ambassador for the Two Oceans brand.

Kelly’s travels represent a fun way of engaging with Two Oceans’ supporters.

By using a brand ambassador to encourage active consumer participation, Two Oceans is creating an exciting and engaging experience for consumers. To this end, Liam Kelly is providing quirky and novel insights on his travels on a regular basis on www.whatsupliam.com, www.whatsupcapetown.com and www.worldexplorer.co.za. He can also be followed on Twitter, .

He is also encouraging active consumer participation by posting pictures of his feet, wearing his trademark flip-flops, in a range of places along the way. Visitors to the site are then asked to guess his whereabouts to stand a chance of winning a series of prizes.

She believes that in order for marketers to engage with consumers in a meaningful way, marketers need to tap into all communication channels used by their consumers.

Liam Kelly’s adventurous and insightful journey as a Two Oceans ambassador creates ongoing intrigue about the brand; always begging the question: Where will Liam Kelly’s trademark flip-flops be next?”

Two Oceans is aligned with Liam Kelly until the end of his travels at the end of this year and this partnership is one of the many initiatives it has underway to target consumers.
