Experiential retail is pretty much anything that happens around the sale of a product. Then there’s “retailtainment”, a term made popular by American sociologist, professor, and author George Ritzer. He describes retailtainment as the use of “Ambiance, emotion, sound and activity to get customers interested in the product and in a mood to buy." Other terms used to describe retailtainment are "inspirational retailing" or "entertailing." I’ve seen three particular retailtainment trends cropping up – using either one or a combination of ambiance, emotion, sound, and activity. read more
