The South African payroll administration market is to receive much-needed additional skills following the graduation of twenty-one learners who completed online payroll qualifications developed by Accsys.
Accsys, a member of the Business Connexion Group (BCX), is a national supplier of people management software and hardware solutions within the HR, payroll and time & attendance space.
The company offers a two-year National Diploma in Payroll Administration Services course and/or a one-year Certificate via its eLearning program.
The Program takes the format of a virtual or online classroom and is therefore able to accommodate those wanting to enter the profession, as well as those already working in payroll or payroll-related positions.
The course material is accredited by the Services SETA (Sector Education and Training Authority) and developed according to unit standards prescribed by SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority).
It is a comprehensive line of study designed to empower people entering the profession with the relevant theoretic and practical knowledge, as well as enhance the skill levels of those already working in payroll.
The course incorporates a number of modules that provide a framework for tuition on global best practices and the influence of technology trends on business operation such as cloud-based services, consumerisation and unified communications.
These trends continue to shape the growth of payroll administration systems, integration and application in business.
The graduates all did exceptionally well said Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, who made special mention of Charmain Lewis from Pick ‘n Pay and her position as the course’s top performer.
Accsys management says the company’s eLearning Program contributes meaningfully to the development of payroll skills and to the recognition and qualification of working payroll practitioners.
“Most people working in a payroll environment have not yet obtained a recognised qualification for their vital role within the company. It is our understanding that around 1% of payroll administrators in South Africa are professionally qualified, which underlines the importance of this course. It is key to the sustainability of this profession,” Schroenn explains.
Accsys’ eLearning Program, under its general training portfolio, has been developed to support the ongoing reformation and evolution of the status of payroll administration in South Africa and across the continent.Click here for more information on Accsys

The lure of using social media as part of an integrated marketing strategy is very tempting. However, efficiently and successfully implementing that strategy takes a lot more than just building a Facebook fan page or opening a Twitter account. A lot of companies don't understand or are prepared for the fact that implementing a true social media strategy takes resources, time, and effort beyond merely hooking up your blog's feed to your Twitter account.
