Albany Bread was recently awarded Sunday Times Top Brands status by taking the number two position in the Essential Food category. The awards recognise the brands that have earned top consumer sentiment in South Africa over the past 12 months.
The Sunday Times Top Brand awards represent a number of categories over varying industries. The total sample for 2016 was 3500 consumer interviews, with 2500 interviews conducted in SA metros and 1000 interviews conducted in non-metro areas within South Africa.
“The Essential Food category covers a large number of carbohydrates which makes this award even more special to the Albany team and we would like to thank all the consumers who voted for us,” says Thabile Gwiji, Brand Manager at Albany Bakeries. “We were up against pap, rice as well as pasta and for us to come out as number two is just a fantastic achievement, especially considering that we were number three on the list last year. We would also like to congratulate our sister brand, Tastic, on holding onto the number one position for the second year running,” says Gwiji.
Albany Bakeries as a brand has always strived to provide consumers with the freshest finest quality bread and hope to continue to be a part of consumer’s daily lives.
