Clover – successful dairy champion

Since 1834, Agri-Expo has been involved in the South African Dairy Industry and have been promoting dairy excellence with the annual South African Dairy Championships.
They have been judging dairy for almost as long as Clover has been producing it. A lot has changed in the competition over the years, there are more classes and categories, more judges and entrants, but one thing remained; Clover is still winning.
In March 2017, 74 judges descended on the Grand West in Cape Town to evaluate 854 dairy products on texture, presentation, and most importantly, taste. Products are entered in 9 categories: Yogurt, Dairy Dips, Cultured Milk, Dairy Desserts, Ice Cream, Milk, Cottage Cheese, Flavoured Milk, Butter, and Cheese. Participants at the Championship compete for two coveted titles, SA Championship Award and the Qualité Award which can only be awarded to manufacturers who have achieved outstanding quality and taste.
Clover walked away with first SA Championship awards in the cheese category for the following products:
That was just the cheese. Clover also placed first in three other categories:
Clover also walked away with 11 other 2nd or 3rd placements.
It just goes to show that Clover really is Way Better™.

For most people, the festive season symbolises a time to slow down, unwind, rest and recuperate in preparation for the coming year. However, In the true spirit of giving, the Mamas from Clover’s CSI project, Clover Mama Afrika, who collectively care for over 13 000 children and 1800 elderly people in their various communities, focused on giving back to the members of their communities.
Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, is proud to announce the appointment of Gail Koeberg who runs the Quegal Restoration & Refuge Centre in Magaliesig, Gauteng. Gail Koeberg joins the 44 appointed Mamas who collectively care for almost 13000 children and nearly 1 800 elderly people, many of which are abused, orphaned, homeless and vulnerable.
Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, celebrates its 14th birthday this October. As we celebrate this milestone, we look back at some of the success stories that have resulted in Clover Mama Afrika becoming the most recognised corporate social investment project in South Africa, with a total of 22 awards under its name, which include the prestigious Trialogue Strategic CSI Award.
Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, together with their valuable supplier MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of fleet and mobile asset management solutions, have once again showed their support by assisting a Clover Mama Afrika.

Chicken Satay Skewers: Flatten the chicken breasts and cut each fillet into long thin strips and place in a non-metallic bowl.
Brush the asparagus spears with the butter and season with salt and pepper. Grill on a hot braai or in a griddle pan for 2-3 minutes per side, turning frequently. Place onto a serving platter.

The Competition Commission has approved, with conditions, the R4.8bn sale of branded foods and beverages group Clover Industries to a consortium led by Tel Aviv-based Central Bottling Company, Clover said on Friday.

SA dairy exports doing well

Dairy imports for February were 4 110 tons at a cost of R172 million. South Africa imported mainly from France (28%) New Zealand (28%), Germany (13%), Poland (8%) and Ireland (4%). Dairy imports for this year are low compared to last year, largely due to limited UHT imports. The main dairy products imported in February were whey (34%), milk powder (22%) and cheese (18%). UHT as a percentage of total imports was less than 1%.
