Expand Networks, a global leader in optimizing WANs for branch office consolidation, has announced that Brandon Rochat, Sales Director of Expand in Africa, will be addressing the audience at the Retail Technology Forum 2011 in a session entitled ‘WAN Networking in the Retail Sector: examining new technologies to drive efficiency.’ He will be joined by Greg Hay, Group Networks Services Manager of retail giant SPAR Group, and Marco Visser, Network Manager Information Services at Pick ‘n Pay, who will head an open forum to discuss how advanced WAN Optimization techniques have successfully accelerated business critical applications for enhanced business productivity across their retail locations in South Africa.
The presentation will take place on Monday 12th September at 14:20 in the Vineyard Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa.
Rochat explains, “In the retail sector, fast and resilient communications between headquarters, outlets and their entire supply chain is critical to ensuring high levels of service and convenience are delivered to customers. As time-critical data traffic and real-time application use increases, a slow and unresponsive WAN can seriously impact productivity. Our retail customers that have implemented WAN Optimization techniques – across fixed and satellite networks – have all successfully mitigated the negative effects of network latency and congestion while making better use of existing IT investments and reducing costs.”
With household names such as Mass Discounters, Pick ‘n Pay, Shoprite, Clicks, Foschini and the SPAR Group all reaping the benefit of Expand’s WAN Optimization technology, the Retail Technology Forum 2011 is a perfect opportunity for visitors to find out why and interrogate experts from Expand and SPAR on challenges, benefits and best practice in today’s retail landscape.
“Expand’s ongoing technology innovations have inspired many retail giants to analyse their large networks in terms of latency issues, speed and priority of information delivery and overall productivity”, concludes Rochat. “ It is understood that constantly buying more bandwidth doesn’t solve anything in today’s digitally expanding world; this is why WAN Optimization has moved from a ‘nice to have’ to a ‘must have’ technology in the retail environment; improving network performance, reducing costs and helping organisations to keep pace with the shopping experience today’s consumers demand.”
