It’s new, it’s strong, and it’s proud. King Malta, Soda King’s new premium, non-alcoholic malt drink, crafted for the independent and ambitious South African man who owns his destiny, has just launched in both Cape Town and Gauteng. Created in 2010, and developed in conjunction with leading international suppliers of roasted barley malts, the dark malt drink will be rolled out nationwide shortly, including neighbouring Swaziland, Zambia and the island of Madagascar, at an affordable price.

The slightly carbonated dark malt drink is a favourite among the people of the Carribbean and West Africa. The rich goodness of roasted barley malt is combined with purified carbonated water to give a taste experience that is unique, full and satisfying. When pouring this drink, a firm fresh foam head is created, adding to the sensational drinking experience. The look and mouth-feel are similar to a “Guinness beer”, but without the alcohol and associated bitterness.

The pure and carefully selected roasted barley malts have numerous nutritional qualities, containing more than 30 minerals plus proteins and amino acids that boost the immune and nervous systems.

Malt offers all the important B-vitamins (important for muscle metabolism and nerve activity, transforming carbohydrates into energy), as well as vitamins A, D and E, plus folic acid. The minerals and trace elements found in malt include magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. Malt’s carbohydrates are easily digestible and slowly absorbed by the body, giving one a sustainable energy reserve.

For many years, malt has been added to the diets of infants and elderly people as a nutritional supplement. “Moderate and regular consumption of malt also helps prevent coronary heart disease,” says Soda King CEO, Gian Mani. “It increases the levels of HDL , (which is good cholesterol), and scours away at the deposits of LDL (bad cholesterol) within the walls of blood vessels.”

King Malta’s winning combination wraps up great taste and wholesomeness while being an excellent source of energy. A delicious, powerful and unique beverage – the king of malts – for the discerning, health-conscious South African man, has just arrived.
