Tiso Blackstar achieves level 1 B-BBEE contributor status

Tiso Blackstar is pleased to announce that the Blackstar Holding Group (BHG) has successfully achieved a level 1 B-BBEE contributor status (from a level 2 in the prior year), in accordance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice.
A number of significant South African brands fall under BHG’s black-owned level 1 contributor status including:
• Tiso Blackstar Group’s Media Division, with titles: the Sunday Times, Business Day, Financial Mail, Sowetan, Sunday World, Daily Dispatch, The Herald, SA Home Owner, TimesLIVE, BusinessLIVE and SowetanLIVE.
• Tiso Blackstar’s Broadcast and Content Divisions: Business Day TV, Ignition, The Home Channel, Rise FM, Vuma FM, Empire Entertainment, Ochre Media, and Gallo Music Publishers.
• The Hirt-Carter Group: Hirt-Carter, Uniprint, Triumph Printing, Paton Tupper, Silo, Hirt-Carter Software Solutions, Hive Connect and Bates Printing.
The improvement in the Group’s B-BBEE status is reflective of the ongoing commitment to making a positive contribution to transformation, recognising that it is critical for the sustainability of its core operations situated in South Africa.
