Lower prices boost Massmart sales

Johannesburg – South African wholesaler Massmart Holdings [JSE:MSM] boosted 52-week sales by 10.1% to R47.5bn helped by new stores and a persistent fall in product prices. Massmart, which runs stores such as Makro, Game and Builders Warehourse, said overall product deflation was at 0.4% while comparable store sales inched up 2.6%.
