Aldi opens a record number of stores in one day

Aldi UK has opened a record eight stores on a single day as part of a tranche of 24 new outlets that are opening throughout November and December.
The latest openings are in Glasgow, Chellaston, Eckington, Longridge, Oldham, Skelton, Bodmin and Islington in London.
The discounter is also upgrading three existing stores as part of its ongoing ‘Project Fresh’ refurbishment programme.
Giles Hurley, Chief Executive of Aldi UK, commented: “We’ve stepped up our store opening programme in the run-up to Christmas so that more shoppers can enjoy fantastic quality products, at prices they can afford, throughout the festive period.”
Aldi UK has opened over 70 new stores during 2018 and currently has more than 800 outlets, with a longer-term target of 1,200 by 2025.KamCity
