Pick n Pay once again receives highest honour at the Sunday Times Top Brands Awards.

South African retail giant Pick n Pay recently took first place at the Sunday Times Top Brands Awards for the third consecutive year, for being the brand that has done the most to promote ‘green’ awareness in South Africa.

South Africa’s most iconic brands were recently announced at the thirteenth annual 2011 Sunday Times Top Brands Awards, held at Helderfontein Estate in Johannesburg last week. Once again commissioned by TNS Research Surveys, the awards highlighted not only the winner in each of its 39 categories, but also the top three contenders for top spot across Business, Consumer and the coveted Grand Prix categories.

Pick n Pay outshone a number of other worthy competitors at the awards and was also awarded second place as the company which has done the most to uplift the community.

Said Bronwen Rohland, Pick n Pay’s Director of Marketing and Sustainability: “It is indeed an honour to be the recipient of these prestigious awards. At Pick n Pay, we truly believe that sustainability needs to be top of the agenda for all businesses and a priority for every household. Business leaders have a real opportunity to lead the way to deliver valuable change.”

Recently Pick n Pay was also awarded the ESG (Environmental Social Governance) Award as well as the Innovation Through Technology Award at the annual African Access National Business Awards. The company also recently scooped second place in the Mail & Guardian’s annual ‘Greening the Future’ awards for the most innovative environmental strategy.
