Berghoff Brewing will revive its brands this summer with updated recipes, and a move to contract brewing the beers at Stevens Point Brewery.

Berghoff's new brews will be available from June in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana, said Ben Minkoff, whose family owns Fitchburg-based beer wholesaler General Beverage Distributors, as well as the Berghoff brands.

The first batch of Berghoff beer was brewed in 1887 by Herman Berghoff and his three brothers, Henry, Hubert and Gustav. The beers were later associated with the Berghoff Restaurant, in Chicago, and for years the brands were owned and brewed by Monroe-based Joseph Huber Brewing Co. Huber was sold in 2007 to the Minhas family, of Alberta, Canada, who brewed Berghoff brands under a contract arrangement.
