The Competition Commission has approved a joint venture agreement between Bunge SA and Senwes Limited and has issued a merger clearance certificate.  

Bunge and Senwes have indicated that they are delighted with the outcome and have furthermore advised that the transaction will become effective as from 1 October 2011.

The green light has been given by the Competition Commission following an announcement on 1 April 2011 by Bunge Europe Middle East Africa, the operating arm of Bunge Limited (NYSE: BG), a leading global agribusiness and food company, and Senwes Limited, a South African agribusiness company, of a joint venture agreement concluded for the procurement and marketing of grain and oilseeds operations in South Africa and other countries in Africa.

Tiger Brands Limited (“Tiger Brands”) and Dangote Industries Limited (“Dangote”) are pleased to announce they have executed a share sale and purchase agreement which will result in Tiger Brands acquiring a 63.35% shareholding in Dangote Flour Mills Plc (“Dangote Flour Mills”) for approximately R1.5 billion from Dangote. The transaction is expected to be effected during the first week of October 2012.
