The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) selected specialist brand activation, corporate communications and mobile engagement agency, Nhume Marketing Communications – PocketMedia®’s official distributor in Zimbabwe to produce an innovative Pop-Up marketing application at the recent MAZ Annual Marketers’ Convention.

The event was held from the 10th to 12th of October at the Golden Peacock Villa in Mutare. As an annual event it not only uplifts the marketing profession, but also provides marketers an opportunity to unleash their marketing prowess.

MAZ’s Annual Marketers’ Convention enables marketers to converge and thoroughly exploit opportunities and synergies away from the centralised business districts and, more importantly, enables them to share ideas and the know-how on trends and current marketing wisdom.
The reason why MAZ chose this innovation is because the Association was looking for a marketing concept that was different from previous years. Nhume Marketing Communications suggested the Pop-Up because it has an element of surprise, relays innovation and creativity to marketing delegates, and would leave a memorable impression to all those who attended the Convention.

The Pop-Up, an almost flat, rectangular cardboard box that contains a square shape that pops out when opened, was used as the official convention programme for the 200 delegates who attended. Delegates were thoroughly engaged by the product and indicated that they would try it for their own brands. One delegate expressed that this is the kind of unique product that will make a brand stand out amongst others. Feedback also showed that most were impressed by the exceptional print quality. What amused marketers at the Convention is that this simple idea of a Pop-Up is a way to keep their brands top of the mind of the consumer.

One delegate said, “In business these days the consumer is constantly evolving and therefore this year’s MAZ Convention has also evolved to assist us in ways that we can keep the consumer engaged.”

The main objective of this year’s convention was to “explore endless opportunities” for marketers on the leadership deck with respect to our businesses. Innovations such as these are a step in that direction of endless possibilities.
